If you are Older You Will Pay More for Tinder

VS Capture Tinder Article

With a swipe of a finger Tinder users can pick their soulmate, or at least someone they can go on a date with and have some assurances the date won’t be horrible. The paid version of this app has been released in over 130 countries. But the paid version comes with a little twist, the older you are the more the service will cost. Take that AARP!

Tinder reported that users under 30 in the United States will pay $9.99 for Tinder, and the 30 and older crowd will pay $19.99. Ouch, it takes ten more dollars per month get a date for us old folks. Similar pricing structures are being released in the United Kingdom. Although some users are a little upset, Tinder believes this tiered pricing will work.

Tinder released that their pricing model has been tested in several countries and used many factors including age to help set price. They have learned through testing that the current pricing should go over well with their users.

Tinder also goes on to claim that they are not the only product that offers different pricing for different age groups, and while that is most certainly true the example they cite is Spotify and their student pricing. They also claim that they are trying to make their product available to younger people cheaper as they are more budget constrained. This doesn’t actually track as the age of the user is not a factor, just that they are currently a student. So we will let that slide while they come up with a better example.

The new premium Tinder has a big new feature people have been asking for and it’s called the rewind button. On the free version if you dismiss a possible match they are gone forever and you won’t see that entry again. With the Rewind feature users can undo any mistaken left swipes and get back deleted possible dates. This has been an issue since the release of the app and now there is an answer.

The premium app also features Tinder Passport. This allows users to search matches in a particular area even if they are not currently there. This might avoid missed connection with a perfect match due to a temporary absence. All of the love birds on vacation can relax, when Tinder can’t track you is waits for you. Not in a creepy way, but a friendly way checking you mail for you till you return.
